Draft A Site Outline And Review Costs
A site map is simply a detailed outline of everything to be included in you website. At the Perrett Company we often prepare the site map as a series of thumbnail pages detailing what text and photos will appear on each page. It will also show how navigation through your website will be accomplished.
This method also helps the customer to visualize exactly how much material can be included and how many total pages will be required to include all of the information desired. This is the best time to carefully review the concept, and determine if some components should receive more emphasis, and some less.
The designer may suggest some additional features to enhance the effectiveness of the site. This may included printable copies of contact forms so that the prospect will know exactly what information they requested. It may include some animated elements to attract attention to certain products or features. Maybe a list of other sources of information should be included, such as association websites, or sister companies you share referrals with.
Based on the site map, a detailed estimate can be prepared covering the cost of developing and hosting the website. Keep in mind that you will have one-time costs for your Domain name, setup on the web server, and the design of the site itself. Site design costs can vary depending on the amount of material placed on the page, and any custom graphics or database programming required. Many small sites with five or six pages can be produced for less than a small full-color brochure. This includes custom button graphics, a logo or textured background on all pages, and scanning of all photographs provided. (We can even reproduce photos and drawings from existing printed materials.) If you need photos taken, we can take care of that also.
Continuing costs will include a small yearly renewal fee after the first year for your Domain name, any changes or additions you might wish to make to your website, and a monthly "hosting" fee on the internet computer.
